The ones my mom meets at church seem to be so busy with their careers that they dont have any idea what is going on in the world. They think watching the news is wrong because that is being worldly. Meanwhile their rights and ideals are being taken away everyday. My mom mentioned to some of them about a major situation going on in our country and her fellow churchgoers were surprised, but they do keep up to date on the football scores.

It's a simple mind control trick both the Republicans and Christian Fundamentalists have been using for years, and first perfected in Nazi Germany.
Point out a straw man enemy that makes you "under attack", and propose that you are the solution to that enemy. Very easy to take control of the simple minded this way. The repugs figured out a long time ago that if they needed that extra few % bump in any election, they just put a "moral issue" on the ballot somewhere and serve up a scare with local religious leaders. The "crazies" show up to vote down the new casino or make abortion illegal or ban gay marriage, and they stick around to vote Republican.

When you amend the Constitution eliminating the Establishment clause. That's all it would take. Two-thirds of Congress (House and Senate) and approval of 38 states.
Get rid of that pesky principle of freedom upon which this country was founded that says the government may not establish any religion, or recognize one set of beliefs as more valid than any other.
Go ahead, eliminate the Establishment clause. Prove that Christianity hasn't forgotten the ways of the Crusade, and is just as capable of any other religion in its ability to punish any conflicting beliefs. Prove that the Founders of this country were wrong in believing that there could be a place where religion does not end up controlling government.
And then pray to your God that you never end up being in the minority to some other religion who decides to run things their way.

First define Christian. You'll see you are unique in your answer. I think the reason you think the majority of Christians are silent is that they don't think like you. If they did then obviously they would be more vocal. Truth is most Christians wouldn't know Christ if he asked them for a quarter to get something to eat. It's just something they call themselves to be able to call themselves something.

Crazy Dude, the vast majority of Americans ARE Christian and WE haven't let go of our country.
The difference between us, the real vast majority, and you fundamentalists, is that we understand one of the basic teachings of Christ is tolerance and love for those not like us.
Try actually reading and learning the teachings of Christ and quit casting the stones you have no moral right to cast.

If only Christians like you (and I am differentiating other Christians from those who confuse their politics with their religion) were as "silent" as you like to think you are.
Believe me, you're not silent. You're really loud. You're really annoying to those of us who believe in liberty for all citizens regardless of race or creed.
I would define you and your ilk not as Christian, but as Christianist - those members of a movement that wishes to use government for the purposes of your evangelism. And that is truly anti-American.

What makes you think you are in the majority?
Church attendence is down - and going down - maybe one to many altar boys got smart or mabye people just got sick of giving money away .
I think if you wake up the sielent majority - it won't be what you'd want. Maybe you are better off letting them sleep?

Please tell me what kind of drink or drugs you are on that makes you think that the country is run by atheists??? (I'd like some of that!). Personally, I'd rather see the country run by atheists than a bunch of pedophile priests! (Jeez, can you imagine what the pennance would be like at confession time???). Just thinking about it makes me glad I belong to the NRA.
