well, I am a sports card dealer, and depending up on the year, I wouldn't pay more than 50 dollars for 216 packs

Not worth much. Everybody started hoarding packs/boxes/sets back in the '80's after the boom of the early-to-mid-'80's. As a result, there are millions of them out there and since that hobby basically died in the early '90's thanks to overkill, gimmicks, and Upper Deck and they aren't worth much. If the guy says he'd give you 50 bucks for them - I'd get his address and ship the stuff before he changes his mind!!! Then, laugh all the way to the bank.

Probably not worth much. Especially if it 1988. They probably wouldn't sell for more than 40 dollars online. 1988 would probably go for 20.
