Has a county government in the USA ever went bankrupt?

Sometimes when taxes get to high and a county government can't afford to provide the services is does, can a government claim bankruptcy? has it ever been done?

YES....Orange County in California. Caused when a city official decided to gamble on Derivatives with the county's money. That is not the only county I am sure there many more!
