the opposite of war isn't peace, it's creation.
Rent as a movie is great, nowhere near the musical, which I've also seen. I saw Rent the night it came out, amazing. Larson was a genius. It was so inventive for it's time and still rings true. I think the only reason the movie has the quality it does only because it was all but two main characters from the original musical, so it held Larson's original vision.

I didn't really like the movie, but I am a huge fan of the stage version. After being a fan almost since the show originally opened on Broadway in 1996 and seeing it ten times, I was kind of nervous for the movie. I was sure it couldn't possibly be as energetic and moving as the play.
The movie wasn't as bad as it could have been - a few years earlier there was a script buzzing around the Rent community that not only cut out most of the songs but involved JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE starring as Mark - but I was still very disappointed. The movie is a very mediocre one, and - with a story that original and good - it could have [and should have] been an amazing one. The only saving grace of the movie, I feel, is the cast - deciding to get almost the entire original Broadway cast of the movie was a very good decison!
Whoa, sorry, I think I get on a bit of a tangent when Rent is the topic. :D If you liked the movie at all, I really, really hope you have had the chance to see the show! Its so much better.

I love Rent. I watch it every chance I get. Angel is my favorite. It was so sad when she died at the end. The singing in the movie is way better than the play. I love the song Another Day. Maureen got on my nerves.

Rent. Hmm... many people constantly tell me taht the play was 10 times better than the movie, and I'm sure their right. I LOVE musicals, like Chicago, Moulin Rouge, Hairspray, but Rent bored me. I truned it off at the first 10 minutes. I don't usually like to do that, but it pisses me off that they sing every SECOUND just to get coffee for example. And it has a confusing story line and I wouldn't reccomend it. But we all have different opnions.
If you want to see a musical try Chicago, Moulin Rouge, (Hairspray the play).
Good luck on your choice!

i want to say that it was a stupid, theatre-fag movie, and it pretty much was, but the gay guy dying in the end made me cry.
However, I will further venture to say that I was rooting for
the "bad guy" the entire time. Who the **** would put up
with some dirty-*** hippies with no money, squatting in their apt complex?
also, whats so cool about being a bohemiem? that just means that youre poor and gay and you will ultimitly
die from Aids due to promisuis sex and Heroin use.
you know whats cool? haveing a lucridive job and being able to pay your friggen rent, thats what

As for a tragic action picture, i desire to propose someplace in Time. That action picture wore me out. It took me countless tries to demonstrate screen it each and each of how via. As for a struggling with/action action picture that would help offset the demanding unhappiness of the previous action picture, i desire to propose Rocky I, II, III, IV and Rocky Balboa. i like how the Rocky video clips have large combat scenes plus an uplifting plot.

Not as moving as seeing it on stage, but still a good movie. It lost a lot of energy in its conversion to film.
