Try Belarc Adviser, it will tell you how many memory slots you have and what's in them.
It will also tell you what kind of motherboard you have.
If you are ambitious, you can look up the manual to your motherboard, it will tell you what kind of memory to use.
Otherwise, fill any empty slots with the same kind of memory as the largest memory stick you are currently using. This is a safe strategy, if not optimal.

You'll have to crack open your computer case, remove the memory from the motherboard and just read the info on the memory stick.Once you find out what speed, size and latency of the memory, just go to tigerdirect.com,newegg.com,compusa.com,best buy.com and order it and when you recieve it just install it next to the other memory stick.Close the case, and start your computer. It will automatically recognize it and that's it .Good luck:)
