Inside the matrix, Smith would just turn him into a version of himself. Outside, Superman would rip off his head and do something else down his neck.

This question is so, so overused, even if you use it as a "joke" like you are doing. The answer is simple: Superman would win. Why? Because his power is innate. He is invulnerable, even when he is unconscious. Goku, on the other hand, gets his power from his ability to generate, absorb and store qi, which is a conscious power. It has been shown that the Dragonball universe has a far greater background level of qi than the DC one. How do I know this? Simple. There are martial artists in the DC world that use qi in their style. And Batman? Lady Shiva? Richard Dragon? If using qi allowed an ordinary mortal to fly, increase their strength or use radiant energy attacks, they would have figured it out years ago. They did not. Ergo, you can't use qi that way in the DC universe. In other words, in the DC universe Goku does not have extreme powers. He is merely a highly trained martial artist. Whereas there is no reason to assume Superman would be less powerful in the DB universe. The stars there are just that: stars. Even Goku had to avoid falling into the sun when he was on the way to Namek. Falling into the sun would just make Superman more powerful. And he might become even more powerful. As said, in the DB universe, ordinary schmoes can become superhumans through training and discipline, because they learn to channel and focus qi. Videl learned to do it, although her father, mr. Satan, never did. Superman is rarely rated as a martial artist - although I would be extremely surprised if Batman didn't teach him some stuff, in case he ever needed to fight another Kryptonian, or was exposed to a power-suppressing agent like red sunlight or certain kinds of Kryptonite. However, Superman is the only surviving master of Torquasm-Vo, a Kryptonian martial art which focuses on training the mind and spirit, rather than the body. Imagine Superman with the added ability to generate, absorb and deflect qi-based attacks. Goku would lose, and lose bad. Assuming they would fight, of course. Goku doesn't fight people who do not wish to fight, and Superman doesn't start fights either; and they are both good guys. They are much more likely to sit down for a drink and compare notes. After all, they are both survivors from alien planets that exploded, and were raised by Earthlings, growing up to be the greatest champions for good on their respective worlds. A much better question would be: Who would win... Vegeta or Zod?
