Existential angst is the anxiety that arises when you feel that life is inherently meaningless, that your existence is only an accident and has no real purpose in the universal/spiritual sense. See wikipedia but the best place to find out is in books by Jean-Paul Sartre who defined modern existentailism.

Don't go online. Watch a Woody Allen movie. He's famous for existential angst.

Put "existential angst" in the search engine. It's right there. "Angst" alone works also, but not as well.

Angst is the word used to describe fear and anxiety. When it about our existence itself, its called existential angst. It is the feeling of emptiness inside that doest go away even when you try to fill it with ready made answers and concepts. It has to do with our awareness that we are going to die. It is also a confrontation with the meaninglessness and absurdity of life.
