They were slaves because they were sold to the them. They didn't just take them like alot would like to believe.Im sure to a certain point that some were.Like most things, there will always be a black market for things ppl are willing to pay for.Other than that, i still don't know why ppl blame the white ppl and are still so angry for it.They should be more pissed off that their country sold them out for themselves! You go to a store, you buy something it's yours.Same with the slaves. They didn't care what they did with you after they traded monies. They were sold it was theirs to do with what they want. They were slaves. Those days are over.......move on.Im 3/4 indian...............Native Indian.I don't complain about them killing all thousands of indians and sticking them on a piece of land. You get over it, move on. Can't dwell on the past

First of all the "white man" was and is not superior. In Europe, they were scrambling to colonize anyone and everyone else to make them "better" and let's be real. They were and still are nationalists.
Africans even had slaves. There were tribes, wars, and fights to be fought there where they were. Then here comes another race convincing them that they were uncivilized and wrong. Were they really? No. Africans were doing just fine on their own.
So in a way they were civilized. Just a different type. It's kind of like different ways of being smart some people act really eccentric, but are geniuses. Others flaunt their knowledge. The Africans, Native Americans, and Hispanic people were getting themselves together before they were fought and in slaved. So we are equal and will always be. All they wanted was someone to do their work.

Slavery has been around for thousands of years. There have been, and still are, slaves of almost every race of man on earth.
I don't see why everyone is in such an uproar over what is past in our country. Nothing will ever be settled as long as history keeps being brought up and rehashed. White people may have had slaves in our country-but white people that saw the wrong in this -Freed the slaves. You can't blame a whole race of men when only a few were responsible for the wrongs.

(1) The answer to this question based on religion and morality is irrelevant in the world today. No one should be a slave as in recent or ancient history.
(2) It is not politically correct to state every reason why the white man and Arabs were proportionally, statistically, and in large masters over black slaves and not the other way around. An objective study or thesis cannot be made on this question due to eruptions, controversies, riots, rage, and violence that may occur by those disagreeing with the study results no matter how true they may be.
(3) The answer is to look forward for a better life for all and to STOP playing the race card, rioting, looting, and advocating "no justice, no peace". To those advocating violence and rioting, hearts and minds will be changed and the powerful will ensure violence backfires on them. The voice of passive resistance and peace, such as those of Dr. Martin Luther King, have and will also change the hearts and minds of people for the better. Which one do you want?

I am really ashamed of anyone who responds to this serious question with some kind of snide remark. This is too important of an account of history - all of ours - for someone to joke about. It is also too involved for anyone to provide a "pat" answer. It seriously deserves some research and maturity. Blacks became slaves after the Europeans found that the Native Americans (Indians) were dying off because they could not handle the heat, nor could they handle the disease the white men came with. (yes, read your history, the folks that came on the ships were the dredges of the British society - the prostitutes, the sick, the vagrant, the misfits, the crazed..and when they came, they came with diseases.) They scoured the continents and found in Africa, there were black people with very dark skin. They watched them work in the heat of the sun, they watched them trade and sell and bargain. Many of them entreated themselves to the African women, showing them the beautiful, colorful cloth they had discovered in other places. Many of these women were skirted and tricked to board the ship for more of the same. In this, lies the fate of the original African people. From there, the white men showed the rulers guns and ammunition and ways they could 'kill' for food, etc,. instead of hunting and trapping as they had done. They, too, were tricked. Surely, these great kings, though proven greedy as the white men, would not have realized their children and wives would never see each other again. Blacks were found to be strong, mighty and able to work in the hot sun. They did not die off as easily as the Natives and therefore because of power, language barriers, and the basic nature of these people, the whites were able to make slaves of them. Unfortunately, slaves are still made of men today - not just black - but whites, and all races - not so much through physical labor - but the mind. Drugs, alcohol and any other way to destroy the human body and spirit. I hope this answers your question. If not, I suggest some deep reading on slavery. The internet, your local library, are FULL of information, books written by many people to educate you.

Somewhere deep in the heart of Africa, there was a African out hunting for his families dinner. He was using a rock to bash the head of his prey. Then along came a pale figure out of the bushes, and "POP!" was all that was heard.

The white man had a gun, the black man had a rock. It was not a battle of the minds, or of the physical strength. It was simple that one man had a gun and the other didn't.

Guns don't raise intelligence levels. Guns just help win battles and overpower others in a quick a swift manner. Doesn't sound superior, just sounds a bit ... greedy.

The reason white people had black people in slavery was because the higher up black people so to speak, sold their own black people to the white people. That is what got the whole thing started.I bet the blacks that sold the blacks to the whites believed in this pathetic theory that the whites got started about people coming from monkeys and all that crap. They like to believe that because if we all came from apes then we wouldn't have a creator to answer to.This whole color issue sucks because its a way for Satan to divert peoples attention away from the real issue which is ,no matter what color our skin is we will all answer to the Same Creator, and that really pisses Satan and his little followers off.

I know that was theory of survival of the fitis somting like that stronger survives plus slavery been originated in Africa later spread Jews slaves some arabs and black on black slavery and is still in Africa I saw documentary there are still slavery there. Europeans went to America take goods and later go to Africa to exhchange for black slaves the reason why to Africa that Native Indians in America were dying out so Europeans needed slaves. By the way Deutch were first Europeans to introduce slavery to other Europeans.

First, the white man went to Africa and brought them to the USA. Myself, if I was an american indian I would be highly pissedd at the whites and blacks.......american indians were here first. Money is the superior reason.....please pay attention to your american history classes in school...and understand the real meanings...not what politicians, some religious leaders, etc say about this topic. Most just want to start controversy....and that is what this has becomeCONTROVERSY.

People of ever race and color were one time slaves. Slavery was not a black thing. Africans have been known to have both black and White slaves in olden days. whites Enslaving blacks in modern times was not a color thing; African slaves brought to the west because they were best suited to work the plantation. A white slave owner would have enslaved his mother if she was strong enough to work on a sugar plantation in Barbados.
