Either the Jerry Falwell Christian Right in the US, or the Islamist fundamentalists in Arab countries. If there is a vaccine for AIDS then people can have promiscuous sex without the risk of dying a horrible death.

it's scary, but yes, there are far-right religious groups that oppose finding a cure for aids, because they think people who get aids deserve it. that's a very ignorant and self-righteous view, considering that the group that is getting infected most quickly is married women who are infected by their husbands, and have not been promiscuous at all.

First I want to dispell the myth that all conservatives are Bible thumping zealouts. I wish they would leave the Republican Party and go scream at someone else. Having said that, I am a conservative/Libertarian, and I suspect that they would be against an AIDS vaccine. Many have come out against a vaccine that would halt the spread of the virus that causes cervical cancer. They feel it would encourage promiscuity.

You know, it takes a really cynnical, toxic person to come up with that sort of reasoning.

Why would anyone be against a vaccine that can cure or prevent AIDS? Do you think AIDS is only spread through sexual contact? Do you think AIDS is all about sex? How about you educate yourself on the number of people in this world who have AIDS, WHO they really are, and how they contracted the disease. Then maybe you'll realize that the cure of AIDS is something that ALL people hope and pray for.

Shame on you......

The religious may be against the idea of a vaccine for aids but the health companies would fight even harder to keep it off the market unfortunately. Treating diseases or illness is too lucrative for them to want a cure.

It is so sad that you think that Christians would be against something that would save someone's life. They do not hate the homosexual as a person, they just are against his actions. It is possible to love a person but hate what they are involved in. I feel that way about loved ones that are involved in drugs. That is a lot more dangerous these days. The Islamic fundamentalists are a cult and and have a set of rules they live by. They are not interested in helping people, just killing them if they are not of the Islamic faith. They consider us infadels and want to destroy us just because we are free to live like we want.

Do you really believe that? You are going to judge millions of people based on religious zealots? Christian charities donate more time and money to the poor in aids stricken African nations than any other single group in the world.

That is actually one of the concerns I've heard about such a vaccine. What people fail to realize isthat MotherNature is endlessly inventive in ways to put pressure on species; other disease, jusr as bad, are waiting in the wings.

Absolutely not. God blessed certain people with the skills snd knowlege to save lives. When those minds come up with a cure for H.I.V. and or A.I.D.s. this again will save lives and glorify Him.Promiscuos sex will still be a sin,but simply accept Christ as your personal savior and these and all your sins can be forgiven.

Sad to say but I do believe the Christian right would try to ban it. The reason they would is because they see aids as retribution form God, not as a disease.
