The present administration has been working around the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
If, after over 200 years, we can't make democracy work in our own country, why would we expect it to work in a new, foreign country?

I really don't think he's all that interested in spreading democracy anywhere. If so, he wouldn't be on such friendly terms with such dictatorships as Angola and Saudi Arabia.

What it appears he really want in Iraq is a passive, compliant governing body that will tolerate our continues presents there and accept our oil interests there.

Sad, but true.

Democracy DOES work in this country. Whether you like it or not, the politicians we have in Washington were elected by the American people. They are our representatives. No one person in this country has supreme authority, not one. Americans complain when their political party is put of power or when their politician doesn't win, but that doesn't mean our system is flawed, it means that maybe more people should get out there and vote.

For the first time in Iraq, the Shiites have power. Why? Because they represent the majority of all Iraqi citizens, and through the democratic process, their voices were finally heard. Good for them!

From the Greeks to us, democracy is the best form of government, and that is a proven fact. Democratic countries have more rights and freedoms than all other types combined. No, we do not have a perfect country nor government, but I can't name any other country that I would rather call home.

There you go using that word "we" again. It's not 'we' that wants an American form of government everywhere in the world, it's George, Geroge, George of the Jungle and sadly he has enough supporters that we continue to impose ourselves on others.

Because it sounds good. Unfortunately you can not force Democracy upon people, they have to take upon themselves to create it.

Just take a look at your own congress. Would you want someone else saddled with likes of that?
