I'm thinking of selling some books via eBay, but I don't feel comfortable with putting my return address on the padded envelopes. Can I send mail with just my username for the return address? If the parcel is returned, can I claim it if I prove that I own the user name?

If you don't use your return address, there is no place to return it to.

If you plan on selling a lot and don't want people to know your home address, get a post office box or go to one of those places that will give you an address and handle your mail for you.

Lots of smart women I know put only their name and 10 digit zip code on the return address line. If you've been at your home for any length of time, the Postal Folks know where you live. You may also get a post office box, and work from there, you'll have some anonymity..

Why are you uncomfortable?

Especially post - anthrax, you need to put your name and return address on any lumpy mail you're sending, if you want it to arrive on time.

People who pay you on Ebay trust you and they give you their address. If you don't feel comfortable, you shouldn't be selling things on ebay.
