Although it would be hard to top the original. . .How about Cillian Murphy? He was a pretty good in Batman Begins and Red Eye.
For a more outrageous choice I would pick Brandon Flowers, lead singer of The Killers. I have no idea if he can act at all but it would be interesting.

I haven't seen the original yet, but from what I know about it, Cillian would probably be a great choice. Or Jonathan Rhys Meyers. I definitely think they could pull it off.

I agree...he would be perfect. I wouldn't even think about remaking that movie, though.
Classics shouldn't get remade. Bad movies can get remade and improved.
