OK, Disconights, you left out some important information.
1. What information are you trying to track?
2. Do you know how to program and use databases?

If you are looking for contact information, I have to agree that ACT is wonderful. I do not use it however, because it is more oriented toward sales contacts.

If you can write your own db, I'd consider using MySQL rather than Access. Access is good, but it is limited in size, does not work well with standard SQL calls, and you can only run the application if you have access to the drive containing the data (either through the network or on your drive).

I don't want to violate the community guidelines (or even the spirit) by advertising, but email me at jrcohen@cohenwebsvc.com and I can make some suggestions (no charge).

google : GoldMine

This is simply the BEST system for your problem. Don't go with chaper versions, like ACT or Great Plains -- GoldMine by Frontier Solutions is TOP NOTCH

Act, Goldmine, Salesforce.com, InfusionSoft - I've used all of these, each has it's strengths and weaknesses, check 'em out.

DO NOT build your own in Access... your time is probably better spent on sales....

I strongly suggest you to buy CRM (Customer Relationship Management) Software.

You could try Microsoft access.

Or buy a simple accounting system and use the A/R Module.
