I just think it's funny how the very people who say the Dixie Chicks should just shut up and sing think it's perfectly ok for people like Toby Keith to be speak out pro war. If it's okay for one, it's ok for both to say what they feel. Toby Keith is "just" a singer, too so if the Dixie Chicks should shut up, so should he and others like him. I think people who are against the Dixie Chicks are just afraid that others will see that they have a point and every bit of it is coming true! I honestly do not understand how people can look at Bush and say he's doing a good job with a striaght face. I think it's so stupid that someone would hate the DC now when they didn't before just because they disagree politically with them. How immature is that? I don't necessarily agree with Toby Keith, but I love his music and will continue to listen to his music and the Dixie Chicks music. I don't look to celebrities to get my political views.

I am another Texan that would stand with you on the issue of the president's record---and on the fact that the Dixie's HAVE the right to speak their minds whatever that is on anything

But--they were unfortunate in the timing of their statements--a little too far ahead of the curve of public opinion--because at the time of these statements the country was whipped up into a war mentality over 9-11 and the false information they had been fed about Iraq's envolvement and the WMD thing-------and people are gonna lash back and the hardest hit they can give you when you are a public figure in entertainment---is in the sales of your product--Politics is a game of hardball and if you play you'll pay one way or the other---Playing the game without knowing the rules is extremely dangerous to your economic welfare

I am not big on country music, but I am big on the Dixie Chicks...I have seen them many times in concert and own all of their albums (taking the long way is my fav.) anyway...It all has to do with politics obviously. Nashville deserted the chicks. The sad thing is that the Dixie Chicks got a lot of people back into country music, when in my oinion, country music sort of sucked. I think they are patriots. They spoke their mind, which excuse me, that's what I thought America was all about. I will say that I respect Bush, because he is our President, but I don't like him, and I'm glad I never voted for him. He has gotten my generation of 20 somethings stuck in a war that I don't think many want to be in...the sad thing is that we probably will never escape it.

Yes I like the dixie chicks, my favorite song by them right now is Not ready to make nice.

As for George Bush, I don't think anyone could do a better job right now. There is too much going on in the world. We need a male and female president with different views, to bring the views of everyone together and make decisions together.

I love the Dixie Chicks and always will, I think it's important that celebrities and others say how they feel. I hate BUSH. I hate all Republicans. But, they are in the limelight and this is what they get. This is what they signed up for. I support anyone that is a celebrity or otherwise that can stand up for what they believe. I feel for them, but I am a leader, I lead, and do not and will not follow the rest of the United States and boo them.

Not proud of his record? Ah, then you are among the thinking elite.
What matters is not if you are right or wrong in your criticism of george bush jr., but that you are ABLE TO SAY what you want about him without consequence.
So if Bush supports the suppression of public thought and opinion, he is being anti-american. And no, I'm not proud that we're now the most hated country in the world. And if that wasn't enough, half of the country hates the other half, thanks to bush and karl rove.

It's good to have more people who can think for themselves in the world. I still don't understand why people got so mad in the first place... isn't that why the Constitution was writtin in the first place to protect our freedoms, ie. freedom of speech? Come on people!! THis is America!!! It's ok if you don't agree with them but you should appreciate that they are American and not afraid to use their freedoms that we take for granted!! As for the country stations that do not play their music anymore, how unpatriotic of you!!! Shame on them!!!

I'm not a fan of their music, but I respect them for speaking out against Bush. Bush is not only a horrible "president", but possibly the biggest coward I've ever seen in my young life. Whether they lose fans over it or not, they shouldn't apologize for expressing themselves that way, especially with his pathetic approval ratings.
