You look too young to be doing that, quit it.

Hey I know exactly what thats like. Try being a 3rd grade girl reading at a 9th grade level. Trust me it gets better. I was never smart socially. I was always kinda on the dumb side when it came to people. I hated math but reading was great. Just because you like to read...and you are able to comprehend at a higher level. Doesnt make you a freak. It just means that you are unique. Don't let other peoples thoughts intimidate you. And trust me if you think your not normal....you're probably more normal than I was at your age. If you love to read then read. Do what you want and dont be selfconcious. If you spend your life trying to be someone your not or do something you dont want to do, then why do it. Spend it doing what you want to do than not wanting...otherwise thats no life at all.
Hope this Helps and TRUST ME IT WILL GET BETTER!!!
Good Luck

Are you kidding me I would be so proud if my little girl gets to that level. She is barely 5, has her own computer and will be reading before kindergarten! You are smart but emotionally youre a kid, let yourself be, youre not ever going to be perfect but you can read and write better than some adults on the internet, read the questions. Your education is something noone can take away. Keep up the good work, and maybe you'll come up with some way to change the world honey it'll be in the hands of your generation. Learn all you can about environmental science, and other things, with the skills of reading and writing there is much hope for you and our future. Glad theres kids like you out there way to go!

In 5th grade I read at a 10th grade level and I took speed reading classes. There is no "normal" I wound up dropping out of school. I always joked that if all math came in word problems I would have aced it! Screw what everyone else thinks!

HA!! I was a fifth grader reading at a college level and so were my friends...why do you bother yourself with these things?? I took advanced classes AND regular classes and made something of myself, and made some wonderful friends along the way. I say take your brains and run with them. You have a wonderful opportunity to break open a part of the world that not everyone can, nor will most people. Don't waste your smarts girl!! You'll be much happier if you let yourself grow and flourish. What do you want anyways?? To be some mindless dwarf like the rest of the people around you?

Don't feel bad....the problem is with the others who can only read at "5th grade level" when they are in the 5th grade!
The quality of education in this country is so bad! All the kids in your grade SHOULD be reading at 9th grade level. Just be glad you are level with most other countries in the world!

Amber- you are normal. Some of the people on here can't even spell at the 9th grade level. You're fine, I was the same way and my daughter too. So continue to read, because that is becoming a lost art!

Honey, if you read 4 grades above level, you are better than normal.
No one is smart all of the time, so don't worry about it. Hang out with the other smart kids and be happy. Fitting in is overrated, and school will be much easier for you overall because you read so well.
Read more, write more, think more, and do more!

Chances are pretty good that you ARE normal. Normal means having some things you're really good at, and others that you aren't. Reading is one of the things you do really well. I'm sure there are some things you don't do so well.
Reading is something that will bring you a lot of pleasure in your life. And if you're that good at it, you probably enjoy it too. What an awesome thing to be good at!
By the way, if people think you're smart ... that's OK. It doesn't mean they think you're perfect. Accept it for what it is ... acknowledgement of one of your strengths!
