I'd choose dogs, because:
1. they are not as messy until they are house trained.
2. Doesn't take as long to house train.
3. Don't have to wash clothes (unless you want accessories for them.
4. Don't need feeding as often.
5. Save heaps of cash.
6. Get no back chat from them.
7. If your a woman it save the pain of labour - You don't have to squeeze something the size of a melon through a melon whole.
8. They are very good companions and rewarding.
9. Your life doesn't have to evolve round them.
10. They can be left on there own without the social coming round and taking them off you.
11. No back chat
12. Very good listeners
13. Listen out for intruders
14. Bite intruders - if u get a big enough dog.
15. U don't have kids screaming at you 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
16. They don't cause a scene when you take them out.

I'm not a childern or a dog person really, but if I had to choose I would have to say dogs. You can leave dogs alone when you go out so they are a bit easier. I would choose a cat really. Or I might get a brick like Father Jack, nice and easy. You don't have to clean it, feed it or take it for a walk!

If you have children, they will want a dog. If you get a dog, they might want a child, but it won't bug you about it.

being single i would say dogs. at least they grow up much quicker and addapt to their surroundings, couldnt imagine raising a child alone wouldnt feel righ not having both parents so they enjoy and have wider learning experience. Personally i would want my child to have more than one point of view in life so he/she can understand, and make knowledgable decisions on their own.
