Gotta remember, you don't know what someone else has gone through nor what that person relates to as valuable in character. Just because you're optimistic and nice to people doesn't mean others aren't gonna be cynical and arrogant.

It's just a matter of filling the need of having a purpose. When, you've lived a great life, you don't need to prey off of others. But when all you know is to tear down other's success to feel like you made an impact by being destructive, it's only natural to do that when you see someone happy.

Don't take what they do personally, just view them as needing help. Likewise, don't feel obligated to help them. After all, it's your time and effort that's being wasted if that person doesn't voluntarily try to change when you make yourself vulnerable to assist.

Cause somebody is just a$$holes, and have to drag other people down to feel good about themselves. Some is just stupid and don't know how to behave. There is a lack of respect for other humans, and maybe they are raised to be jerks.

People, with the pressures of their peers during school(high school and college esp.), have developed a way to hide their flaws or insecurities. One common way to hide their insecurities or flaws is to point out the flaws of others. It makes them feel better because 'at least I dont have this problem'

This really is detrimental to their self esteem even though it may seem backwards. See, when people come to an age when they are not surrounded with peers, what they are left with is a judgemental way of protecting their insecurities. When there is no one to judge and no one to listen to their judgments of others, they are left with no way to hide their own flaws. Having not dealt with their insecurities and having no way to hide them, they are left with very poor self esteem.

Because people who do that are insecure. Bringing out bad things in others, brings out good things in themselves. This could really go so much deeper. But thats the basics.
