TayLee -- check a dictionary for the definitions of 'state.' Sorry you don't understand the question.

state noun: (1st definition)

the way something is with respect to its main attributes; "the current state of knowledge"; "his state of health"; "in a weak financial state"

Christa -- just as I feel.

I am sad because I am a proud American, and I see nothing but the decay of our freedom.

rockandroll: move out of the country if I am feeling sad? You are obviously not a True American if you can say that!

Michelle: the fact that there is worse injustice in third world countries doesn't negate the injustice going on in the U.S..

And I have been to third world countries. The greed of the U.S. is contributing to suffering worldwide.

Christa -- you are excused, for not understanding plain English :-)

Mr. perfect: Who says I'm a Democrat? Both sides are missing the ball imo. Our government is nothing but a puppet for big business and all you guys can do is pick sides. Exactly where they want you. (rolling eyes)

I mean: TayLee, you are excused...

and excuse me Christa (who has best answer so far for loving America enough to actually care)

First of all, I would like to say that I am so very proud to be an American and grateful to live in a country with so much freedom and opportunity. However, I do feel sad that I am living in a country where the citizens can be so easily manipulated. I also feel sad that we have a leader who felt necessary to exploit these citizens' fears after September 11th in order to get us involved in a war that clearly had no real basis. I feel sad that as a society, we are more concerned with whether or not members of the same sex should be allowed to marry than we are with the members of our military that are dying everyday for no reason.

Not feeling sad for the United States.
Feeling sad for all those poor loosers out there who think our own government carried out the 9/11/ attacks.
Feeling sad for all those loosers out there who don't support our government while we are at war.
Feeling sad for all those loosers out ther who think that the president alone made the decision to send troops to Iraq.
Feeling sad for all those looseres out there who don't understand that congress made the ultimate decision to send troops to Iraq.
Feel sad for all those loosers out there who don't understand that congress is made up of democrats and republicans.
Feel sad for all those looseres out there who believe that Michael Moore has a greater understanding of our country's intellegence gathering than the CIA, FBI,NSC, etc.
Feel sad for all those loosers out there that hate our country, but feel compelled to go ahead and take a four day weekend off from work, because they think they earned it.
Feel sad for all those loosers out there who believe the black helicopter theorists and all their garbage about our government.

but I am celebrating, because I did my part, and earned the right to feel good about my country, and the state my country is in right now. things could be a whole lot worse. and they probably will get a lot worse if we keep breeding those anti-american cowards like Michael Moore, the Dixie Chicks, and any other liberal ********* that think freedom is free and who believe that radical muslims extremist don't want every american dead.

Nope! Not at all, I love this country and all it stands for. I am darn proud to be an American.

If you are so sad, simply go to a few third world countries or vacation somewhere that there is a dictator (maybe Cuba?) and come back....maybe that would change your mind.

Long live the USA.

Well, I still love my country, if that's what you're asking, I think we've got a lot of untapped potential that's been overlooked by politicians and businessmen alike, I think we need to clean up more corruption etc. in government, but that never really goes away, other'n that I think we have a decent future ahead of us,
just have to do a better job of chasing down the crooks...

IT is sad to think 15 soldiers will die and a hundred IRAQIES TOO while we celebrate our independence from england and taxation without representation .NO MORE KINGS and today millions slave away for robber barons and mini kingdoms called the fortune 500 hundred most of whom are defense related fields with huge government contracts and tax credits .We have rejoined england and attacked the third world .

I'm not understanding your question. We are sad that our soldiers will not be home with us, we are sad that some people are moving in and trying to change our religions, holidays, beliefs.
We Will celebrate with or with out a fireworks display. We will celebrate with or with out drink.
We will take joy in being with family and friends.
We Are Not SAD To Be AMERICANS!

It is hard to celebrate when you know that there are so many solders dyeing in foreign lands fighting for no good reason. Bush is the cause of all of this but I bet he don't put the gin down long enough to understand the ramifications of his actions.

I don't feel sad because I don't really think we are in a sad state. I will celebrate the 4th with my husband who is in the Military with other couples who are in the military and I will not be sad. Sorry that you are.
