I'm going to Japan this summer. I'll be in Hiroshima on August 6th. Then, I supposed to travel toward Tokyo and arrive within 3 days. It means, on August 10th. So, I'd like to know if there're places, where you recomend me to get down the JR Train and visit by my self. On my way towar Tokyo of course. Small town or meddium city where foreign tourists are not so comun. Thanks!!

As everyone already mentioned, you've gotta try Kyoto.
Kinkaku ji, Ginkaku ji are nice but I recommend Kiyomizu Dera and Sanjyu sangen dou.

Oh and stopping by at Shizuoka area should be fun too.
The capitol of Japanese tea leaves. You'll get to see Mt. Fuji from the shinkansen.

Kamakura is also nice.
Make sure to ride the Enoshima Dentesu (AKA Eno-Den) or the monorail.
But be careful, it'll be pretty crowded in August with beach-goers.

Hiroshima and Osaka: you can try Okonomiyaki and find the
difference in the way they cook.

Nagoya: Kishimen is nice, it's like Fettuccine. You can even
try it on the Shinkansen platform so that you don't have to leave
from the JR station.

Hamamatsu: unagi (eel)

Shonan Beach (beach around the area from kamakura to
chigasaki): it must be very crowded, we call it like washing
potatos. Not very clean or beautiful, but you can see an aspect
of Japanese culture there, i think.

Nara or Kyoto are great places to visit. Himeji has a nice castle. Climbing Mt. Fuji would also be an option. I really like Shigaraki for Japanese ceramics and not many foreigners.

Himeji--Hemjei Castle. It is huge and it is 400 years old. Never destroyed in war nor by an earthquake.

Kyoto-Ancient capital. Tons of temples.

Mt. Fuji--Enough said.

Nara--It is a little bit off of the Shinkansen tracks by a local JR train but worth the trip. It also has tons of temples and has a huge park where hundreds, maybe thousands, of deer roam freely.

Thanks for coming to Hiroshima.
I don't know how long are you going to say.
You can go to Tokyo by Shinkansen, super express train, the max speed is as same as when air plane take off.
I recommend you stop over at Kyoto.
This place was ancient capital of Japan.

I reccomend Yanaka in Tokyo(^-^)

tokyo is classified into 2 district.
one is really modernized down town like Shinjuku^^
(we say YAMANOTE)
there are too many things around JR shinjuku sta.
landscapes from buildings, shoppings, great foods, and so on.

the other is traditional, old part of tokyo.
(we say SHITAMACHI)
I reccomend this side.
getting off JR NIPPORI sta, you'll see Yanaka's really traditional, emotional, old street, temples, shries and so on^^

I hope you have reeeealy great time in Japan^^GoOdLuck^^
