Surely we are not here to score, we are here to use this technology to meet, share insights, experience of others.
In this process we try to have little fun. Sometimes we try to solve unsolved problems.sometimes we ask questions to clear our cobwebs.
lastly we build our network with unknown friends

The points are not "the point". This forum is supposed to be for an exchange of information. Not chatting, not discussing religion or politics, but to find answers to questions and share what you know. It could be an enormously valuable resource if people would use it as it is intended. There are plenty of other places to chat.

The points are not the point. Learn something worthwhile when you can, have a little fun with it and try to help someone else whenever the opportunity presents itself.

The answer to your question is "Yes."
For some, points are more important (although why that should be since there's no real reward makes them seem pointless.)
For others, learning something is more important.
I suspect that for most of us, there are times when learning something's more important and vice versa.

The points should not affect you in any capacity. It is always more important to learn that it is to express your opinions, it's just hoped that in expressing your opinion you may help someone else develop one of their own.

I would rather lose points and get a fresh persective on an old problem. It didn't cost me a thing and it could change my life....

points are totally arbitrary.
whatever helps you out most.
I like to "answer" more, but points don't mean anything to me.
Some people have multiple accounts and spend hella time voting for themselves... what's the point of that? haha...

Being that the points are pointless, I'd say they're unimportant.
