I like to believe that it has to do with knowing them in a past life, but more than likely its hormones.

As in "misery loves company"? or in the subliminal sense?
All people have the ability to hypnotize but not all of them realize they do. Contrary to popular belief, it is only the more aware, evolved persons who notice such things. Obviously, this knowledge is being brought to your attention now for a reason. I would guess that you have in some way been developing your consciousness in order to perceive more clearly.
There is also something called psychic cords which develop naturally between people you are related to or otherwise have contact with. They can be used to drain energy, with or without either parties' awareness. Ask Archangel Michael to cut all cords that are not for your highest good, according to your true will. Do this regularly and see if you don't find some improvement in the situation.
I hope these suggestions have helped you.

Seriously, though, yes. I know that feeling, and put it down to soul friends, that we've met in previous lifetimes. It can be wonderful or terrible depending on how much bad karma there is between you.

No this is not the case. If you observe, it is a fact that many a times the instants that have happened in our life repeat themselves. One should be very keen to observe them, then itself one can realise, this at times stuns the person and this cant be called hypnotism.

mesmerized would be a better definition. some people have power naturally or through magyk to transfix people. you know you shouldn't feel so taken but your powerless, many of the worlds great heroes or villains had this capability from Napoleon to Hitler. Rasputin was said to have mesmerized the czar and his family. you can break free from the "spell" but you must concentrate and prevent yourself from gazing directly into their eyes.do not become entranced by the sound of their voice either. make sudden noise physically keep moving and concentrate on remaining clear-headed.

I have noticed that it is so.
People with strong characters will influence others.
It is not nescessarily a good thing, to be able to discern between what is good and what is not, is a better gift.
That way we can learn and keep the good others can give us.

This is charisma. It is a very subjective thing. Some people's personalities can be quite engaging, while others have well polished people skills, while others are just plain attractive.

It is because the human spirit knows, deep down, that all lives intersect. That death doesn't just take someone, it misses someone else, and in the small distance between being taken and being missed, lives are changed

I have been accused of this. Its another reason I try really hard to avoid too much eye contact. Makes me a tad uncomfortable, sublimating another person's will, completely, and unintentionally.
