My wife had a miscarriage 11/11/05. We just recently got pregnant again. She started spotting at first then the blood turned to bright red then tappered off. We went to the doctor and the baby had grew! Doubled in size. But she is still spotting brown blood over a week later. We have seen a heartbeat and everything. But last time we saw one as well. We are worried and I was looking for anyones input on this matter. thanks

speaking from personal experience I was bleeding bright red blood (which isn't good at all) I did this for over a month. I was hospitalized for 10 days. Finally the bleeding turned more of a brown. When I called my dr. he said that was great (not that any color of bleeding is good) but it was better than bright red. If your wife is bleeding brown all that is, is old blood. My dr. has me on complete bedrest. I found out that i have placenta previa and my baby's placenta started to detach. *hence the heavy bleeding.

I hope that this has helped and good luck to you~Bon

There are times when people have inexplicable spotting and blood in the first trimester. Some even bleed off and on the entire pregnancy. Just have the doctor check you more often and check your hormone levels to ensure that everything is fine. The fact that the baby is growing is definitely a great sign. But I definitely know people who bleed and still go on to have healthy babies. Good luck to you and your wife.

you should ALWAYS contact your doctor about ANY bleeding during pregnancy, i have had 2 children and 2 grandsons, and i studied nursing some, but im not a doctor or nurse. i just know that there can be some spotting or bleeding during pregnancy but if there is ever a question u need to stay in touch with the doctor to rule out any problems with the pregnancy...CALL THE DOCTOR NOW!

Brown spotting is normal. It's basically the uterus "cleaning out" and "settling in". Slight cramping is also normal. It's caused by a growing uterus, and her body going through changes.

Bright red bleeding is not normal. If she has bright red bleeding, call the doctor immediately.

Well I'm 10 weeks and have been spotting, i got an ultra sound and doc thinks I'm okay, but bleeding can be a sign of a tubular pregnancy make sure that's not the case.

Unfortunately, only time will give you the answer you are looking for. It is so hard when you are dealing with this sort of thing. Is she in contact with the MD's office? She should go in this coming week for another blood draw to check her Hormone levels to make sure they are still rising...

i've heard of some women having periods during their pregnancy.
u'r doctor must have commented...otherwise get a second opinion...maybe another doctor can explain it better
