his father was called dracula, the father before that was dracul, "of the dragon" a title granted to him by a christian military sect. in the region affixing an A to the end of a title would describe "son of..." so his father was the son of the order of the dragon, it is a title such as Lord or Count. The people who knew Vlad Tepes gave him the nickname Drago or Drak but it was actually Bram Stoker who whipped up the name Dracula.
Vlad Tepes wasn't a vampire. He was known for his unconventional ways of punishing people who disobeyed him. And the Transylvania castle? He never lived there. He just stayed there for a couple of weeks.

Hi,
The thing with the coat of arms dragon is the base of the story... form here the Hungarians took the story and turned it in theirs favor. Vlad Tepes was a merciless ruler so in order to destroy him they made up stories about him,,,, "drac" (devil) in Romanian, then "dracul" (when talking about him) and then "dracula"... everything is based on the local stories with werewolves and ghosts.....
a myth nothing more :)
