I heard that multi vitamins might not help you and maybe actually do some harm. Any truth to that?

I'm not an expert on vitamins, but I think a good multi-vitamin would be beneficial to a person whose diet lacks fruits, veggies, and nuts, because these natural foods contain a lot of the essentials that our bodies need. One should also consider the type of chemicals/processes that some companies might use to mash all those vitamins and minerals into a pill (I suppose there could be something harmful in that).

However, I do want to point out that too much of vitamin A, D, E, and K can be harmful to one's health. This is because ADEK vitamins are NOT water-soluble. That is, they are absorbed by lipid cell membranes where they stay, since they can't be dissolved into the aqueous solutions surrounding the membrane. Any other vitamin, like vitamin C, IS water soluble, so it can be easily flushed from the body when there is excess.

We usually can't get all of the nutrients that we need from food alone, so a multi-vitamin is usually a good idea. I have also heard that it's best to buy a quality vitamin from a health food store (like Whole Foods).

I take a multi vitamin everyday and it hasn't hurt me in any way. It really does help keep you healthy. Just remember, no more than one a day.

Depends some vitamins can make you feel sick, dizzy, ect. But they usually do help. If you have certain vitamins that bother you then look for multi vitamins that dont have that.

If you listen to Dr. Dean Edell on the radio that is what he reports. I think this is true. Vitamins are pretty much a waste of money and they may very well harm you. Try to eat healthy instead of taking pills.

Take some sips of water first, then swallow the pill with somewhat runny honey, or something else viscous which could help it flow down. i does no longer decrease it in 1/2 because then you definately could flow by the total element two times.
