An asteroid possibly as large as a half-mile or more in diameter is rapidly approaching the Earth. There is no need for concern, for no collision is in the offing, but the space rock will make an exceptionally close approach to our planet early on Monday, July 3, passing just beyond the Moon’s average distance from Earth.
Astronomers will attempt to get a more accurate assessment of the asteroid’s size by “pinging” it with radar.

The meteor is passing near by to the earth, but still at a safe distance of about half light year. so, need not worry a bit about it.
Even if any meteor directs straught towards the Earth, today we are technologically so advanced that our scientists can easily turn its course by some collision at a safe distance or get it blasted as a final alternative. We no more have to worry about such things hitting the Earth and mankind coming to an end. No objects in universe will come to destroy it, we are already paving our own way by our environmental problems and nuclear wars.

nope. none close enough to actually hit. A newly discovered asteroid could strike Earth in 2019 - the most threatening object yet found in space...
Of course, earth is hit by thousands every day. rarely any bigger than a pinhead. A bunch burn up in the atmosphere causing 'shooting stars'

We are not suppose to get hit. However, it is suppose to pass 1.1 times the distance of the moon from earth.
I hope this helps.
