If you capture audio save it to wav(PCM) 44100Hz, stereo, 16 bit.

Mp3 is a lossy format which means will loose some bits because its a compressed format. Wav on the otherhand is a raw format and non of the bits will get lost when saving.

Proffessionals work with wav and when they are done(taking out the hiss and removing the noise), all together they convert to mp3 for players or whatever.

Yes, you can use a software like Adobe Audition and convert it to WAV or mp3 to record it in a CD as CD Audio. If you convert it to mp3 just make sure that it is at least at a 128 bitrate to have CD quality. With Adobe Audition, or other full feature audio mixer software you can reduce scratch and improve the quality of the sound files. I recommend you test it before making your final files.

I use a program from Magix called Audio Cleaning Lab.
You can capture audio from any analog source.
such as turntables, tape players, radio etc.
After you have captured the audio you can change the EQ or any effects you want to. You can also save the file as an MP3 or wave file. Although wave files are much larger
