A little secret to keeping squirrels out of your garden. Put peppermint oil on cottonballs, and place them throughout your garden. Peppermint smells good to us, but repels squirrels.

Coleus are beautiful plants - they'd probably eat those too. Put in your search bar: "Pet Keeping with Marc Marrone" he's an animal expert and might could give you an answer. Or, maybe try putting chicken wire around the tree on the outside of your plants - I dont think they could get through that - just make sure you have wire on the top too and connect it to the tree. Might not be too beautiful - but it would keep them from eating your flower's but it's worth a try.

Take a whole bulb of garlic and 2-4 really hot peppers. Put them in your blender with 2 cups water. Liquefy, pour into a glass container and let set overnight. In the morning, strain this mixture through a cheesecloth and then add 2 more cups of water. Pour into a spray bottle. Spray all over your flower bed and even a little on the tree. Squirrels hate garlic and if they take a bite of a flower, the hot pepper will keep them from taking another one. Just lightly spray your flowers. Repeat after a rain. This mixture will keep in the refrigerator for a week. This formula also works on garden plants for keeping bugs from eating your veggies. Good luck. I hope this helps.

I went on line and bought dry powdered wolf urine, it was cheap. You sprinkle it around and it keeps most animals away.
