My Get Up And Go Has Got Up And Went
How do I know my youth is all spent?
My get up and go has got up and went
In spite of it all, I'm able to grin
When I think of the places my get up has been
Old age is golden, I think I've heard said
But sometimes I wonder as I crawl into bed
My ears in a drawer, my teeth in a cup
My eyes on the table until I wake up
As sleep dims my vision, I say to myself
Is there anything else I should lay on the shelf?
But nations are warring and business is vexed
So I'll stick around to see what happens next
When I was younger, my slippers were red
I could kick up my heels right over my head
When I was older my slippers were blue
But still I could dance the whole night thru
Now I am old, my slippers are black
I huff to the store and I puff my way back
But never you laugh, I don't mind at all
I'd rather be huffing than not puff at all
I get up each morning and dust off my wits
Open the paper and read the obits
If I'm not there, I know I'm not dead
So I eat a good breakfast and go back to bed

AEROSMITH; SWEET EMOTION
SWEET EMOTION
SWEET EMOTION
TALK ABOUT THINGS THAT NOBODY CARES
WEARING OUT THINGS THAT NOBODY WEARS
YOUR CALLING MY NAME BUT I GOT TO MAKE CLEAR
I CAN'T SAY BABY WHERE I'VE BEEN IN A YEAR
SOME SWEET HOMELY MAMA WITH A FACE LIKE A GENT
SAID MY GET UP AND GO MUST OF GOT UP AND WENT
WELL I GOT GOOD NEWS SE'S A REAL GOOD LYRE
'CAUSE MY BACK STAGE BOOGIE SET YOUR PANTS ON FIRE
SWEET EMOTION
SWEET EMOTION
I PULL IN TOWN IN A POLICE CAR
YOUR DADDY SAID I TOOK YOU JUST A LITTLE TOO FAR
YOU TELLING ME THINGS BUT YOUR GIRL FRIEND LIED
YOU CAN'T CATCH ME 'CAUSE THE RABBIT DONE DIED
YES IT DID
STANDING IN THE FRONT JUST A SHAKING YOUR ***
I TAKE YOU BACK STAGE YOU BEEN DRINKING MY GLASS
I TALK ABOUT SOMETHING YOU CAN SURE UNDERSTAND
'CAUSE A MONTH DOWN THE ROAD I'LL BE EATING FROM YOUR HAND

Pete Seegar, a folk singer from the mid 20th century sang a version of it.

It's called "Get up and Go", and it was recorded by Pete Seeger and Arlo Guthrie at one point, and by Tom Paxton at another.
"How do I know my youth is all spent
My get up and go has got up and went
But in spite of it all I'm able to grin
And think of the places my get-up has been!"
