astronomers are trying to define the word planet, but it isn't easy. many favor the reclassification of the bodies in the solar system into three groups, the rocky terrestrials, the gas giants, and the ice dwarfs. there are hundreds of known ice dwarfs. this is also called the kuiper belt. the ice dwarfs include bodies like pluto, quaoar, sedna, 2003 EL61, and 2003 UB313 (the official name of xena). 2003 UB313 is about five percent bigger than pluto, but pluto was the first kuiper belt object discovered.

i personally favor this reclassification because the ice dwarfs do not have the physical or orbital characteristics of the other bodies in the solar system.

the new planet is more or less in the Kuiper Belt, a dark realm beyond Neptune where thousands of small icy bodies orbit the sun. The planet appears to be typical of Kuiper Belt objects--only much bigger. Its sheer size in relation to the nine known planets means that it can only be classified as a planet itself

There have actually been 3 more planets discovered. It's up to 12 circling our sun, so far.

yes i find it very intresting that there is/might be a 10th planet but if pluto isnt considered a planet the new planet would only be the ninth.

I'mpretty sure that another planet is there. It's temporary name is "2003 UB313," though some people call it "Planet X."

which one? sedna? or xena? they are not considered to be planets, but just lumps of rock which got trapped in our solar systems orbit.
