I own a 94 Jeep Grande-Cheerokee. It has started randomly dying one me. Sometimes when it is setting still, turning a curve, coasting. It will start back up though. I also have had a problem with it starting when I first get in it. I took it to a mechanic. He hooked it up to the diagonistic system and also cleared out the computer. Nothing could be found. Could this possible be a problem with the fuel system? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks

I have a dakota, which isnt exactly the same, but its all crysler, so the systems are basically the same.

Anyway, it was donig the same thing to me, especially if i was driving along, and put it in park and left it running, it would just shut itself off, but then turn back over again and start. Also, the rpm's would drop if it was idling or at a stop light, or what have you.

All that to say it was the a little computer that ran the fuel pump i think, i wish i could remember exactly what the hell it was, i actually still have the old one sitting around. It was like the throttle control or something. It needed to be replaced, it wasnt a huge issue, it was done in about an hour, and the part only cost about.... 100 bucks or so, it was well under 200 all together, labor included.

The only reason they figured out what it was was from past experience, because the diagnostic computer didnt pick up on it, and usually doesnt.

It could be that? If not, have you checked the alternator? I had a dynasty that did the same sort of thing... ended up it was the alternator.

You might have a bad ignition coil. it will start and run fine until it gets warmed up. then it will die. and won't start until it cools down. These part are usually on the top part of the engine and are fairly easy to replace by do it yourselfers.

You should check your starter, your alternator and your fuse box. Jeeps are prone to these 3 things to fail.
