Hargreaves is always slated by the tunnel visioned English press and public, just because they don't see him play week in, week out. He always does a good job for England when he is in the team.
Don't forget he plays for Bayern Munich who could have anyone in Germany to replace him if they wanted. The fact that they refused to let him leave a couple of years ago speaks volumes about how highly they rate him.
And in reply to opaalvarez's answer, Hargreaves was the one England player who DID score his penalty.

Owen played in his favourite position , the same position where he plays his club football and played to the best of his ability. You do not play for Bayern Munich without any ability. Good Luck England.
