I think that the best Beach Boys song is "Don't Worry, Baby" because it does everything that a pop song should do: it tells a story and moves you to reflect on the relationship between the speaker and the subject. I know that some people automatically pick "Good Vibrations," but that song is too sprawling and it feels like several songs combined together. It does not have a centre.
"Don't Worry, Baby" is about a guy trying to fix things with his girl before a race. It is simple, effective and very moving.
