You've got a point. The pop radio stations do all play the same songs, over and over. But I do think people get tired of that, and I do think they step outside the box. I've got over 600 artists on my iPod, and most of the people I know are the same way.

Are you looking to find some new music? A really good way is to ask a question on this site including some of your favorite bands, and people will give you suggestions. Or you can go to yahoo music and look up your favorite bands -- they give lots of 'similar bands' for each group, ranging from mainstream to very obscure.

Don't get stuck in the rut! There's tons of great music out there, I'm sure you know. As for changing the radio... they play what bands pay them to play. They're not gonna change, bud. It sucks, I know. But some radio stations play a much bigger variety... it all depends on where you live. Try some internet radio stations... search for them, there are some good ones out there!

Pop music now days is the same recycled garbage that it has always been. As you say, Pop stations will play the same play list of 10-15 songs over and over again for weeks at a time. A great example of Pop culture being shoved down the throats of kids are these damn "Kids Bop" Cd's. Look at the songs and tell me if you think anyone under the age of 15 should be learning these lyrics. Most of these songs are adult oriented in the material that they speak about. So we have all of these kids singing about things they have never experienced or don't know anything about.

what is wrong with cyndi!
she is more honest & true than any confuzed, underground band could ever be. most of whom are just being run by there fear & blindness of right & wrong.

did you know she made no money from her "girls just want to have fun" video, & the people in the video are all just her family & friends who she dragged along?

did you know she performs on the street a lot just because?

or did you know she directs her own videos & produces her own albums?

if you & I were to go without music for 30 years & then we were played a Britney song, we would dance our asses off & our minds would unfold & release, & it would be a very positive experience. music is music. it is not human. and it cannot lie. it will blow your mind regardless. if you let it.
music+communication is something else. something most "pop" stars dont have, but they dont really claim to either, which is more than I can say for most rock bands these days.

I'm not disagreeing with you. I would love to see more music+communication spread around & become more available to young people who dont know how to find it. my main point is that 1) Cyndi Lauper is a ******' godess, and 2) pop doesnt bring nearly as much confusion & falseness into the world as a phony rock star.

As soon as teens hit their twenties, I hope most of them will wise up.. and as soon as parents start monitoring what their kids listen too .. I grew up in the 80s listening to all the popular music but also having influences of the 30s and 40s from my grandparents, 50s-70s from my parents and a ton of other stuff from my older brothers .. I loved it .. unfortunately more kids don't do this, they go w/ what's "cool" so they'll fit in ... so again, hopefully when they give up the idea that dance-bars are the best places to go, they'll find some good music to settle down w/ and search their souls ..I don't think the radios will change cuz they are being force fed by higher power people just like we are ...
