I live in a dormitory and yesterday I was getting out of the community showers and was in a towel walking down the hall to my room. While I was pulling my keys out to open the door, I noticed the maintenance man STARING at me (until I went into my room)... it made me really uncomfortable... I thought it was rude and wonder if I should report it. What do you think?

How are you gonna report that when you are the one walking down the hall in a towel? Of course a man is going to stare. I would suggest putting your clothes on before you come out, that is just common sense. You never know who is goingt o be out there. If you saw a hot guy in a towel walking in the hall, would you stare? That's what I thought. BTW, I don't know if you're hot, but some guys will stare at any female who is breathing.

If you knew their were maintenance men around, why would you be running around with only a towel over your body? They should report you! What were you pulling your keys out of? Dah! People will do or say anything to get attention.
With some of the other questions you've asked, I think you need mental help...

You may want to take a robe to the shower next time.Walking down the hall in a towel is not a good idea.

I would take your concern to the person responsible for your floor or you dorm, you never know if there have been other complaints or other situations where others felt uncomfortable because of something this person did. Because of the necessity of dorm life, this issue must be addressed before something happens to you or someone else living in the dorm. The fact that this event distrurbed you is your natural instincts putting up a warning sign of something being not normal.

My answer is three fold....

1) report it as you, as well as your dorm mates need a safe environment without un-necessary threats
2) knowing male maintenance person can be around, watch what you wear... you could wear a bath-robe or something that will cover more of your body
3) let the college know that presense of mail maintenance worker in female dorm needs to be controlled - either maintenance time posted somewhere or female staff accompany such people.

Don't report it. Get a robe or dress before you leave the shower facilities. You will draw unwanted attention walking around in a towel.

I'm sorry, but what were you expecting? You actually impeded on other's rights to not see you half naked, by walking down the hall in a towel. You should look at it from that perspective. He may have been extremely embarassed to have seen you that way, but he is human after all. You put something on display--people are going to look at it.

I would get a big huge bathrobe or MOOMOO and wear that back into your room from now on. I doubt he would look. But seriously, if you felt uncomfortable then you should say something to someone who has some authority. Shouldn't they post when they will be coming for maintenance in a girls dorm?

You're wrapped in nothing but a towel, and he did nothing but look? No comments, no gestures, no leers? Hey, did you want the guy to turn away as if you were ugly? Men, my dear, are human. Sounds to me like he acted with restraint.

Why not get yourself a proper bath robe and reduce the problem.

I wouldnt report it. If hes a maintenace man then he'd have to be desperate to get that job and why get him in trouble. no offense but thats basically what guys do. Just ignore it next time or put on some more clothes before you make the walk to your dorm
