internet speed may be low for many reasons.
1. is your connection on a dedicated line? i mean leased line just for internet. if yes then u need to chek up with the operator to solve your problem. if no, then the traffic on the service server might be more and hence your data rate is very low. you need to login at off peak hours like early mornings when many a people will not be there.
2. check if you system got any trojans , spyware and other programs of this kind. if u are not a geek dont worry, just try to download adware from download.com and install that program and run it. it will resolve such problems. u can use any other products of the same gene.
after that open internet explorer browser and goto tools --> internet options. delete cokkies and go to view files. in that delete all the files in the folders shown there. dont delete the folders. u need them and if u delete u will get some other errors while browsing internet. delete the files in temporary folder. if any file is not deleted dont insist on deleting it. leave that file as it is.
this might solve most of your problems. if u still have a problem.


3. check if ur system is running low on RAM.
if u have very less ram and are running operating systems like windows XP ,has a antivirus pack running and has too many iprograms running in the system tray( these are visible on the tool bar next to time at the lower right corner of the monitor) then u need to unistall or disable some of those progams to increase the ram availability.

What is mtnl connection? I've never heard of that.

i don't know but have you tried gettting a differnt internt maybe and that might work or not?
