ok there is biological evidence/dna testing that suggests that Taino have north american, south american, and mesoamerican correlates. Irving Rouse has collected a lot of information in regards to the taino origins as well as possible exchanges. Computer simulation has shown that it was possible for sea faring via dugout canoe from middle america, south america, and north america. There are artifact assemblages that show that there was definately an exchange or relationship between taino and "indians" from the north american geographic locale. There have been presentations at past SE conferences that have shown that north american artifact materials/stone were found in various past taino areas of occupation. Pumis has been found in florida however, it floats so it may have floated over from the carribean islands. Pumis is of volcanic origin. I would say the Calusa of florida and the various exchanges that went north. There were known travels from cuba to the west floridacoast by mestizos...during the contact period...that may also be evidence...
