Last night my doctor and i was at the same party. We started talking and hit it off pretty well. He told me he was interested in me when i was his patient. But now that im not his patient anymore he wants to ask me out to dinner. IS that unethical? Because he was my doctor?

If there is no marriage involved and the relationship as doctor patient is over, I see no reason for you to feel the least bit guilty about this. If you are seeing another doctor for your medical needs then there should be no conflict of interest. I say if these are the details it couldn't hurt to have a relationship with him. Not unethical in the least. But it is good that you are mindful of the implications, no matter how remote.

While you are his patient, it is unethical to have an intimate or romantic relationship. If you are no longer his patient, and choose to be his "date" or whatever, then it is acceptable. However, it might make for a sort of uncomfortable sort of relationship for both - given the first way you met - perhaps you in an examination room, wearing one of those indecent little gowns - or worse yet, getting a Pap smear.

Depends on what type of doctor. Is he a pyschiatrist definitely unethical and a no no. Otherwise it's ok only now you'll have to change doctors if you go out with him.

No. You are not his patient anymore but if you intend on using him as a doctor again I wouldn't go out with him.

No, now that he isn't your doctor I don't think its unethical, the reason why I think it would've been unethical if he was your current doctor is becasue his feelings for you could've caused him to be biased

As long as he is not your doctor any more, such a relationship is entirely up to you. If you were both at a party, it is not sexual harrassment. If he had asked you during a breast exam, that would be a different matter entirely.

Yes it is. If you want to keep your relationship, it'll be best if you
went to a different doctor.
