will it show up on a background check for employment? Do I need to do anything to have it sealed? How do I make sure this info is kept under the table?

The case is actually over, and all rquirements were met. It was a misdemeanor.

By definition, deferred means the sentence was not imposed for a particular conditional reason. Provided that condition is not breached, then the sentence remains deferred. It is a matter of public record. It is not likely the court will seal the case unless there are very serious circumstances. Therefore, this will be somthing that can be checked, especially for employment. The best thing to do is to be honest and forthright, right up front. That is what an employer really wants in an employee. The very fact that a sentence is deferred is to your credit, so you must have some very good strengths that the judge recognized also.

Yes, it will show up on a background check. The best thing for you to do is complete the requirements by the court. Then it was not be a felony conviction.

On employment applications you are only required to answer to felony convictions, nothing else.
