US culture only caters to the extraverted. It's considered really "bad" to be an introvert.
Extroverts with all their cheesy, nonsense small talk pass for ...popular.
All scientists are introverts. An extrovert could never be a deep thinker.
How does an extrovert spend his day off: blabla on the phone with as many people as possible(about nothing), play out, go to the beach, travel physically.
Introvert likes to sit home, read books, paint, play or listen to music, talk about important issues with his closest friend or pay attention to his family...We are originals, never copying others.
I'm a proud introvert. In USA extraverts are over 80%, in Europe- 50/50. That's why in Europe people are more intelligent...
Introversion has absolutely NOTHING to do with "shyness"!!!
It's just that we really hate small talk and would rather sit and observe than say all that predictable "easygoing" crap.
I hate to be asked "how are you" from complete strangers who couldn't care less anyway. Shy people are simply insecure and afraid to talk, while we-introverts, are just bored with silly questions and phony people, all formalities and expected stuff.
Anyone who mistakes introversion with shyness is a really ignorant extrovert(of course never read a book)!
Extroverts, being phonies make perfect diplomats-they can talk for hours about the great nothing, beat around the bush with a big fake smile. Clinton is the perfect example of an extrovert.
So popular despite all those blunders...

Introversion as opposed to extroversion is the preffered way of getting energy by looking into yourself or inwards. The extrovert gets his energy from outside himself, so you see an extrovert in a party will go round shaking hands, meeting new people, laughing out loud and joining easily in the fun. The introvert will still have fun at the party, but in a different way. He will most probably stay in one corner and observe what is going on around him, enjoying the scene, analysing, studying, and all that.

Intorverts ususlly think that extroverts are loud and thoughtless, while extroversts thinks introverts are queer. Both are lies. Both introversion and extroversion are just different ways of getting energy.

Introversion has to do with looking inside of oneself rather than looking outside. An introverted person is usually a shy , reserved, timid person while an extrovert is is more outgoing, more readily open to making new acquaintances, talking to people, expressing his feelings, emotions... the introvert pretty much keeps to himself. Not such a good thing over all, really.

One type of introversion is a type of attitude. People that are introverts respond slowly to situations or demands of others, as they require time to assimulate and integrate the information. It was developed by a Swiss psychologist named Carl Jung.

The terms introvert and extrovert (also spelt extravert) refer to "attitudes" and show how a person orients and receives their energy.

In the extroverted attitude the energy flow is outward, and the preferred focus is on people and things. Extroverts tend to be energetic, enthusiastic, action-oriented, talkative, and assertive. These people like to do many activities that are in the midst of people, such as volunteering for community activites or taking part of church and business affairs; they find partying very entertaining. Therefore, an extroverted person is likely to enjoy time spent with people and find less reward in time spent alone.

In the introverted attitude the energy flow is inward, and the preferred focus is on thoughts and ideas. Introverts tend to be quiet, low-key, deliberate, and disengaged from the social world. They enjoy such activities such as reading, watching home movies and television, and doing quiet things in the vicinity of their home. Thus, one who is introverted is more likely to spend time alone or in contemplation, as these activities are rewarding. They may avoid social situations entirely, not because of shyness, but because they choose to.

While most people view being either introverted or extroverted as a question with only two answers, this is more of a scale, with people falling on both ends and in between. The term ambivert was coined to denote people who fall more or less directly in the middle and exhibit tendencies of both groups. Most people are considered ambiverts. An ambivert is normally comfortable with groups and enjoys social interaction, but also relishes time alone and away from the crowd.

Introversion is the turning of our interests inward upon the self, instead of external objects.

That's when someone is shy, quiet, keeps to themselves. Extroversion is the opposite--extroverts are loud and outgoing.
