Having worked in a couple of different schools you don't have to explain any further.
To be honest I'm not sure if there is a safety regulation. OSHA or the Public Health Department would be the two places to contact and ask.
I wouldn't give them specific information, but ask a representative in either place if there is someone who can help with your question. Since it involves a school safety issue, most places are quite willing to help get you on the right track.

Your SUPERVISOR or MANAGER is responsible for knowing and enforcing safety laws in the work place. In any case, you could contact your local State OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) office, or the Federal on and they will give you the answer.

Contact your local OSHA office. # should be in your yellow pages or white pages under Government.

Check with your union (don't have one? get one! the teachers probably have one) - I don't think there are governmental regulations for heat - just thinking of factory workers.
