I can't begin to tell you how many times I've washed my floors, my father in law never takes off his shoes and I've told him many times. I want to put a sign on my door or a framed peom about taking off your shoes. Do you know where I can find one??

Or if anyone writes poetry and thinks they can whip one up for me, that would be awesome.

So you've asked him many times and he hasn't done it .... chances are he won't. Maybe getting his shoes on and off are a struggle for him. Maybe he's one of those people that puts his shoes on in the morning and takes them off minutes before getting into bed. Do you have a nice bench in your entry where he can sit down to take them off or do you expect him to balance and take them off.

I understand the reasoning of taking your shoes off since it helps keep your floor and carpets a bit cleaner, but does HIS shoes cause such a mess? As a last resort, offer shoe covers like they use in hospitals or that mechanics wear.

I would give it up ...... picking a battle over shoes with him is not worth the grief.

Welcome

We're glad to have you, welcome in.
We'll let the good times now begin.

Come spring, come summer, winter, fall
We won't ask much of you at all.

We'll take your coat, mix you a drink -
we'll try to keep you in the pink.

For what we ask we need no list,
and all we ask is simply this:

Someone vacuums and washes floors,
so please leave shoes outside the door!

Remove your shoes coming through this door
To keep clean my sparkling floor.
Do this for me - and you I adore
Otherwise - I may start a war.

How's this? You could have a cute cartoon character standing with a mop in her hand.
