I would think any job for a 16 yr old would be a learning experience. As for future jobs, what does he/she know at 16 where/what field they might like or not to get into. McDonalds, Hardee's, Burger King, any fast food hires 16 yr olds (McDonalds will hire 15 yr olds only on wk ends/summer-they're allowed to work 30 hrs). A 16 yr old hardly knows where their future likes/dislikes will go some people never do. College Students (21+-) sometimes change they're major after 4 yrs of COLLEGE.

My son turned 16 on last Friday and he went to East Coast to work in Lab that has all adults and mostly MD and PhDs. It depends on person to person or rather kid to kid. Do not think I was very excited to send a 16 years off to 2000 miles away but he is determined to explore his strong desire to persue something and got an extermely good opportunity and I had to agree. So I say that one would gain from any kind of experience if he/she does not have any particular goal yet but if he/she has a goal then it is better to work in that area and I believe that if one is agressive then one can get a real job even at 16.

McDonalds. Also, see if your community has a CETA program. It is a program that helps young people 16 - 21 find jobs . They can range from daycare to office work. Usually it is part-time for the Summer. But any work experince you get now will help you in future positions. Every little bit helps.

For starters, ask at places you're interested in what the minimum age for employment is. That way your not disappointed by turning in an application just to hear, "sorry you're too young." Other than that, any first time job is a good learning experiance. It teaches you timeliness, responsibility, accountability, and respect for the working world. Good luck.

I'm a line cook and you have to be 18 years of age to be a waitress because you have to handle alcholic beverages. A good job to start out at is at Safe way because like waitressing you can establish good people and communication skills.

Day camps are looking for teen leaders. Try your local Boys and Girls club or some other non profit org. They pay and it would at least be a fun job. Good experience for your resume.

depends on your location. I worked at Enchanted Village/Wild Waves when I was in high school. If you get into ticket sales or gift shop, that will be money handling experience.

I'd try to get work at the ballpark. Otherwise it's probably anywhere where you repeatedly ask customers, "Would you like fries with that?"
