I think that RuPaul is an icon full stop. After all, she inspired the movie "To Wong Foo."
The screenwriter was watching an awards show with his mother... RuPaul came on the mother said, "She's a lovely girl, but those proportions..." which set him to thinking about the impact of drag and thus, the movie was born!

You are probably as far out in left field as anyone could be. Transgendered individuals are not looking for icons nor do they want any. For the most part what is needed is acceptance of them in general, for the people they aspire to become and are!
