Put a small, clear plastic container upside-down in your tank with a couple of small entrances cut in the bottom and some air trapped in the top. Put in a rock that they can climb into the air and a heavy rock on top that will keep it from floating up. You will need to pick it up to let in fresh air every other day or so, or weight it down even more and put an airline into it.

I had a fresh water crab. He didn't need access to air. But he did disappear. Vanished.... never found him.....true story.

Put an air filter or airator tube into the fishtank. Every acquarium over 8 gallons should have one.

Crabs don't need air. They have gills. It would also need to be a saltwater tank.
