An average is about a year. There are a lot of varying factors though. How bad your teeth look prior to the braces, if your jaw alignment needs work, and what dentist you go to. I only had my braces on for ten months because my dentist said that's all I needed. So it depends on a lot of things. Hope this helped!!!!

Most orthodontics leave braces on for at least a year to see how your teeth progress. My daddy had his braces on for five years and he had to wear a retainer for another year.
But, brace-technology has greatly improved since 1975, so you'll probably end up having to wear your brace for 18 months to two years. Then, you'll need to wear just a retainer for maybe six months or less.
After the first few weeks, braces aren't too bad. You'll get used to 'em, I promise!!!
GOOD LUCK!!!

It depends on how bad your teeth are. Generally speaking, I think braces stay on for about 18 months, but if your teeth are very badly out of place it can take much longer. Also, if you don't keep the elastics in when you are supposed to, it will take longer.

Depends on the severity of the problem they are trying to fix. Usually the minimum is about a year.

i had mine on for a year and a half, so did some of my friends, but also some had theirs for 3 years (the worse cases) so i guess average is like a little over 2 years. anyway, you can ask you ortho for an estimate.
