Everyone is different - I was full of milk the next day after having my 2nd child (a couple days after my 1st), but I nursed from the moment they were born, to be sure my body knew the plan. Lactation is kind of supply and demand - the more the baby nurses the more milk you have. This means that as long as the baby is nursing, you will continue to have milk.

I nursed until around 2 years with both my kids - the older stopped easily on her own, the younger had to be forced off (she kept biting me hard as she fell asleep and I had had enough!). I have seem women nursing children that looked more like 4 or 5 to me though.

Your health care provider can tell you more specifics about sex and the time to rest after birth, but here is my opinion. Sex is fine all through the pregnancy - though i was warned off oral sex, because you can get air in where you don't want it to easily with that. The closer I got to delivery though I would feel cramping with orgasm and wasn't into it.

After childbirth I think you need 2 weeks rest after natural and about 6 weeks after c-section - I think that is when they said i should start stomach exercises to get my figure back. I didn't ask about sex.

This is a great sex for pregnancy and baby: http://www.babycenter.com/

They can answer a lot of questions you may have - you can even sign up for weekly emails that tell you what is going on with your pregnancy (when what forms, how you might be feeling, etc.)

Peace and blessings to you and yours!

You can lactate as long as your body is still producing the milk. Most women stop by the time their baby is 2, but you could lactate for longer if you still pumped it or the breast was still being stimulated. As for intimacy, I'd suggest wearing a bra with breast pads in it, and having sex within an hour of the baby feeding. If your breasts are full and you get sexually stimulated, it could cause the milk to squirt out during sex and make a huge mess. So if its been a few hours since the last feeding, keep your bra on and pads in, or be ready to lay on a towel, change the sheets, or get a shower afterwards.

Once lactation is established, it continues as long as the demand continues. In other words, as long as the child is willing to nurse.
You can continue with your normal sex life until about six weeks before delivery, although some people continue beyond that. It just depends on how comfortable you are, and how large you are.
You should give yourself six weeks after birth as a real rest and recovery period, and look on the next six months as a time for rebuilding and getting back up to speed.
Good luck with your pregnancy.

You can breast feed as long as your child is willing...my uncle did so until he was 6 years old. You can have a completely regular sex life during pregnancy so long as you are comfortable with it. After delivery your doctor will suggest no sex for 6 weeks, but I only waited days. Best wishes

P.S. please don't listen to the other answer... breast feeding is very important to your childs future mental and physical health...any soreness will go away. Breast feeding for at least 3 months is said to lower a childs health risks by 95%. Best wishes

you can continue to breast feed as long as you want, there are cases of 9 year old twins being breast fed still! me personally i stopped when my daughter was 1-ouch teeth!
you carry on producing milk for as long as you breast feed, so when you stop you gradually dry up.

as for sex, you can continue during pregnancy but some positions may be uncomfy as you get bigger, its about finding a position that suits you and your new expanding bump!

time period of rest, if have c section its usually 6 weeks of no lifting etc... and vagina delivery is a good nights sleep!! it deends on the person and whether you have stitches or not.... after birth though you are given some simple instructions like no heavy lifting etc for a while so your body can rest and get back to normal

as for sex afterwards i still havent had any and my daughter is now two! its best to wait few days especially if had stitches, though doctors may tell you to wait more, again its diff for everybody, do it when you feel up to it!

ps dont forget your pelvic floor exercises, i wee when i sneeze and cough now as a result of not doing them often enough!! nice!

1. however long you want it to. Children feeding at the breast at 5 or 6 years old is just plain sick, by the way.
2. Sex life normal, may need towels to mop all the milk that leaks profusely. eewwwwww.
3. There is no rest in our culture after the birth. None whatsoever.

You can breasfeed for as long as possible & as long as you are comfortable.

I would say people genreally stop when their child is on solids - this again, is down to the individual.

The milk ducts will continue to produce milk for as long as they are being used.

Your sex life can continue throughout your pregnancy and as soon as you have give birth. The first day would be uncomfortable but after that should be fine - providing you don't need an episiotomy (stitches will need to heal). You mus ensure that you use contraception as you are more likely to get pregnant whilst breasfeeding 9& soon after birth).

Our sex life used to revolve around the sleeping times of our baby, therefore around 4am was our time after one of us returned to bed after feeding the baby.

In France, you are expected to be showered, dressed & fully made up before your visitors arrive in hospital!!!

If you have a c-section, then you need to rest for 6 weeks. A normal delivery needs a day of rest. Always sleep when your newborn sleeps.

Congrats & good luck :-)

Children can breastfeed for as long as the two of you choose. Your breasts will produce milk until your child stops nursing, many children around the world nurse until their adult teeth begin to come in, so 6 years or so.

It can take anywhere from 1 to 4 days for your milk to "come in". You need to nurse your baby from birth though. The colostrum, or pre-milk, is full of white blood cells and other good things for babies and the sucking encourages your breasts to fill.

You can continue sex as normal until birth, as long as you don't experience any complications like bleeding, excessive cramping or your water breaking.

Most doctors suggest resting for 6 weeks after birth, but honestly, many women, especially if their births were easy and their bodies healed quickly, don't wait that long. You'll need to consult your body and allow yourself to wait longer than 6 weeks if you need to, or less if you're up for it. There's no right answer for everybody.

To facilitate bonding, many families wait several days before accepting visitors. This is a period of rest as well and those who choose it are often very happy with it.

Whatever works for you. Good Luck!!

I fed my little boy until he was 9mths, actually until he bit me! you need to eat healthy as you will need about 2000 cal per day to keep your milk flowing.

But thats not a prob as it helps your womb go back to normal and therefore helps you to slim - if that makes sense.

Sex life was ok - you just need to be inventive with the positions as your shape changes. Sex at the end can help enduce labour not sure if its the chemicals in sperm or the orgasm - go for both and you should be ok

i slept for 2 hours after my daughter - due to the drugs - bad move it effects your bonding but with my little boy we just got down to a feeding sleeping routine within minutes.

Churching - this is the traditional 'traveller' resting period after childbirth. it last for about 10 days (i think) and they rest for the time - no housework, visitors or stuff - then the christening - i think, if im wrong - then no offence intended. :0)
