why are some reg plates white on the front of a car and yellow on the back?

Someone came up with the idea of the amber light (yellow) on the front let you know that is the front of the vehicle and that the white just like the red tail lights let you know that is the rear of the vehicle. This is just a guess. We only run one plate on the rear here.

So yous know if you is on wrong side of road jus before you hit them
