A few cities or states will have weeks in which they suspend sales tax on certain items, but there is no general no tax week. (I wish there was!) Washington DC has generally had a no sales tax week in early August (covering clothing items up to $100) to help with back to school shopping, though I haven't heard of a date for this year's. Many people in this area combine a trip to the beach with a visit to Delaware outlet malls, because Delaware has no sales tax.

It would be impossible for the federal government to suspend sales tax due to state rights (I know that the federal government is trying to take state rights) In my state we have no income tax so sales tax is a prime source of income for state and local agencies. However we due have a tax free day just before school starts.

I live in Californa and never have heard of a NO tax week. But some stores have special deals on some holidays where they will "pay the taxes for you".

Some states do no tax week and some don't...It's for poor people to get great discounts on items so they won't have to pay as much..., but middle-class people take advantage of it...I can't remember the dates though.

Some time in late April, or early May, the average U.S. Taxpayer has paid all of his, or her obligations to the various tax collecting agencies and, effectively, keeps the rest of his or her income. This begs the question, however......are we getting our money's worth?
