You can go to www.cnet.com and check out their extensive list of free downloads..... everything from antivirus to antispyware to work related products.

There is no single product out there that will find every single threat. I have 4 different security suites on my computer (Norton, McAfee, eTrust by Computer Associates, and Trend Micro.) Each of them has found something the others have missed at one time or another. So for what it's worth, I don't believe there is a "best" product. CAUTION: DO NOT RUN MORE THAN ONE LIVE SCAN AT A TIME. COMPETING PRODUCTS COULD SEE EACH OTHER AS A THREAT AND YOUR COMPUTER COULD CRASH.

Having said all of that, look at the statistics. If you don't have SOMETHING on your computer, you have a 100% chance of getting a virus or spyware or adware or malware. Even the worst product that is "only" 75% effective has cut your chances down to 25%. So something is better than nothing. Get something, use it, and keep it updated.

Hope this helps.

Adware, windows defender, and spybot is free options for spyware removal
Antivir and Avast are good anti-virus options.
Get zonealarm for a firewall. (they have a free version)
and us a different browser like firefox and opera
firefox even has an IE plugin if you need to use IE for that site and opera has an option that makes it identify as IE.
but for your current problem download ewido from http://www.ewido.net/en/ is on a 15 day trial but this should remove majority of your malware. If not, there's Hijack this, but use when as a last resort this can f up your system if you don't know what you doing.

ps when done with you antimalware sweeps you might want to do reg clean/defrag and optimize your drive.

I deal with this everyday www.duelwave.com
