1. It always worrys me a bit when I see someone say they really want a specific pet, but they have done virtually no research on the pet's need. Asking a question here is not the same as research.

2. You won't get a disease as long as you keep the water clean and practice basic hygiene. Water contaminated by fecal material and old food is always a risk for some diseases- but it is very avoidable.

3. Frogs eat pretty much anything they can shove in their mouth- insects, worms, small amphibians and crustaceans, etc. Some frogs specialize a bit, but most will eat packaged frog or trout chows.

4. Habitat is basically lots of clean, warmed water. Most want a place they can get out and dry/sun for a bit.

5. Sources: You can catch them wild if it is legal in your area (they count as a fishing species in many places!) but wild caught species are less likely to do well in captivity. Try a local pet shop.

You'll probably find African clawed frogs, Fire-belly toads, and maybe things like Leopard frogs there. They all take a little research to care for right, but at not too bad for pets.

Here is a link to the New York Herpetological Society. This link gives care sheets on many types of frogs, both native and exotic. Hope this helps.

Forget about disease. Wash your hands a lot after you handle them or their tanks. I've had turtles and lizards and never contracted a disease from them. You are more likely to get a disease from a human.

Also, check your state laws to make sure it is legal to have a frog. Many states have banned lots of reptiles and amphibians.

they don't Cary diseases they eat freeze dried brine shrimp so they DONT eat flakes you will probably the African dwarf frog or the African clawed frog in your pet store they prefer a full aquatic environment so no land they are more lake fish than frogs they only need a 1 and a half gallon tank for one more if you want more they need no aerator since they just breath air bit they may need a filter to clean the water they only need a temperature from 68-84 degrees so unless your house is cold they need no heater they do well with non aggressive fish but clawed frogs may eat small fish since they are bigger
